About Us

The Science Education And Society Research Program is based in the Department of Biology at the University of Rhode Island.  We are interested in broad questions relating to the delivery and practice of education from kindergarten to doctorate.
Our research projects include specific questions on pedagogical practices in the classroom, as well as the role that social contexts play in students’ learning gains. The lab conducts research in biology education and science education in general, implements projects related to education practice, engages in outreach programs, and designs curricula to re-engage education as a driving force for improving social equity. For more information on our programs, projects, and personnel, please visit any of the links above.

“Education is that whole system of human training within and without the school house walls, which molds and develops men and women”
